Love Your Skin: The Case for Collagen Beauty Drinks

Love Your Skin: The Case for Collagen Beauty Drinks

Everyone has something they geek out over, and we here at Beaumore do that over one thing: collagen. We take the Japanese collagen that goes in our ethically manufactured beauty drinks seriously to ensure the best for our Beaumore babes.

Yet some of you may still be wondering: what exactly is collagen, and how does it benefit my skin? Let’s dive a bit deeper into the wonderful world of this essential ingredient.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN?

Our bodies are approximately 30% collagen, and it is key for cell maintenance, regeneration, body function, development and growth. Collagen strengthens the skin, keeping it youthful with high elasticity. Beauty drinks (like ours!) derive the ingredient from fish scales, or bones and cartilage from chicken, cow, or pig.
In April of 2018, skin expert Dr. Paul Banwell expressed, “Our natural collagen production slows down from our early 20s by 1-1.5% every year and by the time you turn 50, most individuals will have lost about 50% of the collagen in your skin.” This rate depends on each person’s unique lifestyle, diet, and genetics, among other factors.
As you can see, collagen does decrease over time and leads to our skin thinning, sagging, or wrinkling! Thankfully, hard-working researchers based in Japan have found ways to make collagen molecules small enough for our bodies to break down when consumed. That’s where drinks come into play.

HOW DO COLLAGEN BEAUTY DRINKS HELP?

There are many amazing collagen creams to apply directly onto the skin, and we treat ourselves to lots of them! Collagen beauty drinks, however, do not just add collagen to the surface. As Beauty & Go nutritionist Daisy Whitbread shared in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, collagen “stimulates the collagen-producing cells, called fibroblasts, to produce more of your own natural collagen.”

Collagen production may not start slowing down until later in life. However, as Whitbread shared, “As with most things in life, prevention is better than the cure, so the earlier you start taking collagen the better.” There’s nothing wrong with feeling youth with every sip as early as now!

SO WHAT MAKES BEAUMORE’S COLLAGEN BEAUTY DRINKS THE BEST?

Many collagen supplements in the market max out at 10,000mg, but like we said at the start: Beaumore takes its collagen seriously.

Our wonderfully packaged Collagen Beauty Drinks hold a whopping 20,886mg of collagen in every bottle. Plus, they have a delicious orange flavor (some say it tastes like gummy candy!).

That number may be staggering, which is why we recommend drinking one of our beverages every 2 to 3 days. Dr. Blanwell explained to Harper’s Bazaar that ingesting 6,000mg of collagen peptides daily can “trigger fibroblast activity in the dermis.”

Basically, when you consume collagen, it is not directly absorbed into your body. It actually stimulates your own body's natural production of it. The more collagen you consume, the easier it will be for your body to keep on producing it. Anything left over will just be flushed out with your next flush, so there is no such thing as too much collagen!

If you are new to Beaumore, we highly recommend our Discovery Ritual. With three bottles included, it’s the perfect collagen introduction to your skin. For those of you hopelessly devoted to our drinks, check out our 8-pack Beaumore Ritual to get your much-deserved collagen fix!

B6 & B3

Vitamins B6 & B3, also known as pyridoxine and niacin respectively, are layers of the larger B-complex. According to the University of Michigan Health System, each member of the group provides its own unique benefits and can aid in anything from healing wounds, anxiety, and digestive issues.

Vitamin B6 in particular helps with amino acid metabolism, which is crucial as amino acids make up our most important protein: collagen. Meanwhile, B3 (along with B1 and B2) are more essential to energy production, a process that is needed while our drinks naturally and safely stimulate the body’s collagen creation.
